About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.
The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Customer Review
1) Packaging: this is a heavy package. I am a female, but no weakling.. still, the only way I could get this in my door was to push / drag it in.. there would have been no possible way for me to pick this package up.
2) Assembly: Everything was easy to understand, all of the parts were clearly marked, etc.. that being said, I am not the one who put this bike together. My fiance put it together, and he said it was a pain, because not all of the screw holes lined up perfectly, etc.
3) Quality: VERY sturdy.. this bike is as solid as a rock. nothing flimsy about it.
4) Comfort: I am only riding the bike for 30 minutes at a time, so I cant vouch for how comfy it is beyond that length of time, but for the 30 minutes I am on it, its fine. by the time 30 minutes is up, I am beginning to get tired and sweaty anyway, and by then, YES, the seat is starting to feel a tiny bit uncomfortable, but what can you really expect? its an exercise bike, its not supposed to feel like you are riding in a 1990 Lincoln Town Car! :) Comparing this to other bikes, I have sat on bikes at the gym that have left me literally in tears and in pain because the seat was so uncomfortable, but not this bike. its comfy enough to get the job done. if I ever decide to go longer than 30 minutes, I may look into some sort of additional cushion for the seat.
5) Electrical Display: Mine works fine. many have complained that its hard to see because its not backlit.. I dont have this problem because I use the bike in a sunlit room, and can read the display crystal clear. I dont know how it would look in a dark room. as far as the accuracy of the readout, everything looks very accurate EXCEPT the "calories burned" display.. like others have said, this is WAY off.. I just cant beleive that I burn over 300 calories from 30 minutes of bike riding. anyway, how can this display be accurate, when the display has no idea how much you weigh? a person who weighs 120 lbs is going to burn FAR FEWER calories in 30 minutes than a person who weighs 200 lbs.. so definitely ignore this portion of the display. as for the rest of the displays, they are fine. the only one I really use is the timer.
6) Workout programs: I am just now figuring out how to set the bike to run thru the different levels of difficulty and thru the different programs it offers.. ex: hills and valleys, all straight-aways, etc... its not difficult to figure out, I have just been lazy about reading the instruction book. The different workouts it gives you are nice.. different choices, etc.
7) Weird Smell: a few people mentioned a weird smell.. not on my bike. zero smell. no issue with this whatsoever.
8) Overall value: excellent. where are you going to get a rock solid bike for such a great price? this has what you need without getting too fancy, but yet its definitely not bare bones. This bike is of such good quality that if I saw this in my local gym, it wouldnt be out of place at all.
In conclusion, I have no complaints about this bike. I would recommend it to anyone. I have it right in front of my TV, so now I have no more excuses when it comes to getting exercise! just hop on, turn on my favorite TV show, and my exercise for the day is over before I know it! If you are looking for a recumbent bike, I dont think you can go wrong with this one.
Great Home Exercise Bike - Doreen J. Linehan - Chalfont, PA
The Schwinn Recumbent Exercise bike is a good value, very sturdy.
There is about two hours of work to assemble it but it is worth it.
